You will find the perfect Pumpkin

On a cool late September morning my wife and I went to a local farm to pick up a Pumpkin for Halloween. We drove to the farm, parked the car and got out to look at the pumpkins on the farm stand. As we got out of the car we both noticed a little girl and her father walking hand in hand over to the same stand. As we neared the stand we noticed that she had a dollar bill clutched in her left hand. She stood in front of the stand and studied the pumpkins with great care. She looked at each pumpkin on the stand and then went over to the farmer and said, “Hi, I’m here to buy the biggest pumpkin I can.” He smiled and said. “That is good, we have many pumpkins to choose from.” She then showed him the dollar bill. He frowned a little and took her to the dollar pumpkins. They were very small and you could see the disappointment on the face of the little girl. She looked at the farmer and said, “Only these are a dollar”, the farmer nodded and said “yes”.

She put her hand on her chin, paused a moment and then said to the farmer, can we go into the field there may be a pumpkin I can buy for a dollar that is bigger than those”. He said. “OK”. Off they went into the field. She was still clutching the dollar took the farmers hand as her dad followed behind. She walked through the rows looking at the pumpkins. She spotted one and said “Can I buy that for a dollar” It was a pretty good size but it was solid green. She studied it for a moment and then said” No, The stem is not right”. She continued on and soon she spotted another green pumpkin. Looked at it and said” Can I buy that one for a Dollar”? The farmer said. OK. She again studied it very carefully and finally said. “No, it doesn’t have the right shape.”

Off they went again looking for the perfect pumpkin. Suddenly, she stopped pointed to a good sized green pumpkin with a perfect shape and asked can I buy that one for a dollar. The farmer thought for a second and then said “OK”. He took out a small knife to cut the pumpkin from the stalk. She said “No, don’t cut it off; I will be back in the middle of October to pick it up. Then she handed the farmer her dollar bill. The farmer smiled, took the dollar bill, looked at her father who had a big grin and said, “that is one clever young lady”. The girl got her pumpkin, the farmer got his dollar and they both had a story to tell.

Do not give up your goal and search for the perfect pumpkin- you will find it too! All you need to remember is three things: 1 - Build a little trust and understanding 2 - Use a little creativity 3 - Be persistence.

If you can do that on a consistent basis then you can not lose!
